Organizing my space

[d.i.y]

Everything in its place.

Needs vs wants

Take a look around your home. Establish what needs and wants mean to you. It’s natural of keep items that are sentiemental but may not need to be out all the time. Create specIal moments by only bringing it out of storage a couple times a year. We all want particular items to be easily accessible, this is where we dedicate storage to it.
STORAGE is EVERYTHING!

Map your space

Always be considering the dimensions of your space. Consider any odd angles. Use the space to your advantage. Consider what will be happening inside your space. Will there be a steady flow of traffic? Keep it spacious. Will additional storage be needed? Maximize storage capacities without sacrificing floor space.

Rule 365

When it comes to organizing, swap seasonal items in and out of storage, and make time to sift through some of those items to see if its worth holding on to. The 365 rule is this; if you haven’t used an item that doesn’t not hold sentimental value within 365 days – Donate it, gift it, toss it. Do what you can to get that unwanted cluttter out of your home.

Functionality

When your space is functional and fits your lifestyle, it will better serve you and home maintenance will be a breeze. You can achieve this by knowing exactly how you live mixed in with how you want to live. Organization is a recipe of habits we’re aware of and making small transitions that will create and maintain a clean space.

Setting Dates

Having a cleaner come in is great for the deep cleaning, but it’s not practical for everyday cleaning. Set dates for cleaning certain rooms and don’t be afraid to delegate the task to someone else in the home. They can pitch in too!

Set aside time to do something for your home that you enjoy. Whether it be gardening, decorating, daydreaming, or rearranging the furniture. This sense of newness will encourage cleanliness. When things are fresh we like it more.

Get a Routine

Routines are the secret to success. As you move through the day think about how many things can be casually done with little to no effort when you have a routine. It comes down to structure and expectations.

Knowing what’s coming next will reduce stress levels, but also help you achieve more through out the day. You’ll be able to manage your time better. This could mean efficiency and improved productivity.

Stay Social

I’m betting that on one occasion or another you’ve had to hyper-clean your home right before company is arriving. The hustle to clean can be easily avoided, just simply have people over more often. A lot of times our house takes a beating when we don’t anticipate company and let things slide.

If you’re not so much of an entertainer that’s okay. The solution for you is to live as though someone could walk into your home at any time and it would be looking and feeling well maintained. Live as though people are judging, They are!
